Compressed Air Simulator

Compressed Air System Simulator

Status: In Development

I'm working on a tool to help you model compressed air systems and test changes before spending money on equipment.

What It Does

Model your compressed air system—compressors, receivers, piping, demand—and see how different changes affect performance and energy consumption.

Examples of what you can test:

  • Adding a larger receiver - does it reduce compressor cycling?
  • Upgrading piping diameter - how much does it reduce pressure drop?
  • Switching to a VSD compressor - what's the actual energy savings for your load profile?
  • Fixing leaks - what's the impact on runtime and energy costs?
  • Adding a second compressor - do you need more capacity or better controls?

The goal is simple: figure out what actually works for your system before spending money on equipment.

Why I'm Building This

Over the years I've seen people spend tens of thousands on equipment upgrades that didn't solve their problem. Sometimes a bigger receiver helps. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes VSD saves energy. Sometimes it's a waste of money.

It depends on your specific system—how you use compressed air, your demand patterns, your current equipment.

This simulator lets you test different scenarios and see what makes sense for your situation.

Current Status

Still building it. I'm working on getting the models right—how compressors actually behave under different loads, realistic pressure drop calculations, energy consumption at various operating points.

I'd rather take the time to make it accurate than rush out something that gives bad results.

When It's Ready

I'll post an update here when the simulator is available. If you want to be notified, you can sign up for updates or check back later.

If you have specific scenarios you'd like to be able to model, email me at info@air-compressor-guide.com. I'm building this for people who actually work with compressed air systems, so your input helps.
