Use of extension leads

Question
Hi I have just purchased a new belt driven air compressor for my fencing business. Looking through the instruction manual it says not use an extension lead. I intend to mount on the back of my tray so will have to use one. Q. do I need to take it back or is this just a get out clause for the manufacturer if the motor burns out. any advise would be appreciated.

Hi Its not recommended to run a compressor on an extension lead, however if thats the only way you can work then ensure that the extension lead is the largest sized conductor rated to the full load current in amps that the compressor would use and never use the extension lead in the fully or part would state. Have you considered a petrol engine driven reciprocating compressor.
