Quincy QSI 370 scavenge line issues
Question
I just did a complete PM on unit and I noticed right after I have a lot of oil scavenging in sight glass on scavenge line.
I pulled the orifice out and ran the unit without and still have the same flow rate. I then rerouted the scavenge line to the wet side of the inlet valve to see if it would clear up.
It's still seems like a lot of oil with a new separator. Could it be a faulty separator?
Btw the compressor is running at 190 degrees @ 115 psi full load (inlet valve is wide open) and oil level is where it should be.

Hi,
You are worried that the separator is not working properly, while you just replaced the separator element.
Please check the inside of the seprator vessel. 99% of the oil separation is done by centrifugal force. The oil/air mixture enters the vessel from an angle. On many/most/all compressors, there is a steel 'splash screen' installed.. it protects the separator from direct contact with the incoming air/oil mixture..
I have attached a screen-shot of what I mean (this is from a different machine). I am talking about number 3120.
If this shield is missing, the oil separation will be very bad, even though a new separator was installed.
