Excessive crankcase pressure

Guest February 23, 2015 1 Answer
Question
I have a campbell hausfeld compressor (4 pistons--- 2 each side) which has excessive crankcase pressure and is blowing pressure thru the crankcase breather . Normally it releives a small amount thru this breather, but recently it is much much more than normal. What would cause this situation. ` Thanks, Bob

This sounds like a case of piston ring blowpast. It happens when the piston rings wear out more than their allowable limit and affective sealing of the air is lost leading to air leaking between the liner and the rings. Changing the rings should solve the issue.
