1998 atlas copco xas 96 wont stay running

I have an atlas copco xas 96 185cfm JD compressor. the engine starts but does not stay running. when in the start position on the switch its starts, but when it clicks back to the run position it shuts down. the left warning light is on but I cant figure out why or how to bypass it to trouble shoot. Any input would be extremely helpful!
